Paleontologists:
The students enjoyed several opportunities
to dig up dinosaurs in the classroom. From a sand table filled with bones, to a
treasure hunt for dinosaur bones, the students soon realized how hard it would
be to put the dinosaurs back together again. They came up with these guidelines.
Materials Needed to be a Paleontologist:
- Magnifying Glass
- Hat to keep the sun off your brain
- Sunglasses-but not the dark kind or you can't see the bones
- Brushes to brush the sand off
- A shovel for digging
- One of those pointy digging things with points on both
sides
- One of those big bone machines that can take an X-Ray of
the bones under the ground
- You need sunscreen so you don't get burned
Characteristics Needed to be a Paleontologist:
- Don't get bored
- You need to have lots of time
- You need to have big muscles to lift the heavy bones
- You need little feet so you don't leave big footprints in
the ground
- Don't spit, or it might get on the fossils
- You have to get dirty sometimes
- Don't press too hard or you might break the bones- they are
very delicate
- Sometimes the sand will blow in your mouth and you might
eat some
- If you find a fossil egg, you should put it with the
mommy's bones or she might get mad
